Avient Corporation was originally formed as PolyOne Corporation in 2000 through the consolidation of two plastics companies.

As the company developed towards specialty solutions for the plastics market, we focused on putting our customers and their needs first. This coincided with the acquisition of the Clariant Masterbatches business in 2020, and at the same time we adopted the new name Avient.

In 2022, we made significant progress in our specialisation strategy and expanded our materials offering through two transformational portfolio changes. We completed the acquisition of the DSM Protective Materials business, including the Dyneema® brand, World's Strongest Fibre™. We also sold our distribution business to an affiliate of H.I.G. Capital.
