BIO ON SpA

BIO ON SpA is an Italian biopolymer company. It works with polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), natural polyesters synthesised by naturally selected, non-genetically modified bacteria from agricultural carbon sources and by-products, and recovered by mechanical extraction without organic solvents. Its PHA family is marketed as NaturPolymer.

Activities:

• supply of PHA powder made to closely defined specifications
• licensing of its PHA production technology, supported by a patent portfolio
• development of applications in cosmetics, medical devices, agriculture, electronics, 3D printing and marine clean-up

The company operates a plant producing PHB from agricultural by-products. Together with Gruppo Maip it develops bio-based, biodegradable compounds for rigid packaging, horticulture and consumer goods, and through the Zeropack joint venture with RKG Group it targets packaging and accessories for the fruit and vegetable sector.
