BIOTEC Biologische Naturverpackungen GmbH & Co. KG, based in Emmerich am Rhein (Germany), develops and manufactures biopolymer compounds from plant-based renewable raw materials. The compounds are delivered as granules to converters, who turn them into finished products.

Bioplast grades include:

• Bioplast 110/02 for flexible applications
• Bioplast GS 2189 for rigid applications
• Bioplast 300, suitable for home composting
• Bioplast 600, with a high share of bio-based carbon

The materials are made from non-food industrial crops without genetic modification and contain no plasticisers. The company states that every grade breaks down in industrial composting and also in a properly managed home compost, and that the compounds are eligible for food-contact packaging under EU regulations. The company, which employs around 75 people, reports an installed capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year and offers technical support to processors.
