CO.N.I.P. Consorzio Nazionale Imballaggi Plastica

CO.N.I.P. (Consorzio Nazionale Imballaggi Plastica), based in Gubbio (Perugia, Italy), was established in 1998 and holds ministerial recognition. It organises the management, collection and recycling of the plastic crates and pallets bearing its brand in a closed loop that involves producers, users, collectors and recyclers.

Figures given by the consortium:

• more than 130 member companies
• about 128 collection platforms across Italy
• over 60,000 tonnes of crates sent for recycling
• more than 400 crate and pallet models in standard, palletisable sizes

Used packaging from the system is recycled into secondary raw material, from which new crates and pallets are made; the consortium describes them as fully recycled and recyclable.
