Italian non-profit consortium for the collection and bottle-to-bottle recycling of PET beverage bottles, now also covering PET and PP strapping
Activity description
Coripet, based in Milan (Italy), is a voluntary non-profit consortium definitively recognised by the Italian Ministry of the Environment. It started operating in April 2018 with a provisional authorisation, made definitive in July 2021. The consortium enables producers to meet extended producer responsibility obligations for PET bottles through a bottle-to-bottle model: used bottles are collected and recycled, and the resulting rPET returns to member producers for new bottles.

- producers selling beverages in PET bottles
- converters supplying preforms
- recyclers turning post-consumer bottles into food-grade rPET
Bottles are collected selectively with eco-compactors run by municipalities and supermarkets, and through municipal collection under an agreement with ANCI. Part of the material is sold in monthly online auctions to registered PET recyclers. Since 30 September 2026 the scope also covers PET and PP strapping.
