Hexpol acquires Italy’s Vipa Group

2026-08-28

Hexpol will acquire 100% of Italy’s Vipa Group, a producer of thermoplastic compounds for the wire and cable segment. The transaction is intended to strengthen the group’s Thermoplastic Compounding offering.

Hexpol acquires Italy’s Vipa Group

Hexpol (publ) is acquiring 100% of the shares in the Italian company Vipa Group, headquartered in Ancarano on Italy’s east coast. The company is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and developers of high-quality thermoplastic compounds, with a particular focus on the fast-growing Wire & Cable segment. According to Hexpol, the acquisition significantly strengthens the group’s product portfolio and geographical reach in this area. Vipa Group is being acquired from the Paolini family, which founded the company in 1969 and has since developed it into a specialist compound producer with profitability above the market average. The Paolini family will support the transition to Hexpol ownership for a period of 18 months, while the current CEO, Nicola Vigolo, will continue to manage the company as a subsidiary within the Hexpol structure.

Vipa Group’s operations include two well-invested production sites in Italy and a modern research and development center. In 2025, the company generated turnover of EUR 76.4 million, employed around 80 people and had available production capacity to grow within its existing footprint. Hexpol states that Vipa Group will significantly strengthen its offering for the Wire & Cable segment, linked to electrification, data centers, telecommunications and smart buildings.

Strengthening the thermoplastic compounding platform

"The acquisition of Vipa Group marks an important step in executing the growth strategy for the new business area Thermoplastic Compounding that was presented at our Capital Markets Day in November 2025. It also demonstrates our ambition to build a leading thermoplastics platform through both organic growth and acquisitions," says Peter Rosén, acting CEO and CFO of Hexpol. "Vipa Group brings leading positions in Wire & Cable, strong material expertise and exposure to long-term structural growth drivers such as electrification and data centers," adds Peter Rosén.

The transaction covers the entire Vipa Group, consisting of Vi.pa S.r.l. and Vi.pa Polimeri S.r.l.

"We are very pleased to have found a new industrial owner for Vipa Group that is committed to continuing our activities in the region while upholding our policy of sustainable development," says Stefano Paolini, Chairman of the Board and member of the founding family of Vipa Group. "Hexpol has demonstrated deep knowledge of the business and a willingness to further invest in and develop the group our family has built over more than half a century. The group’s heritage will continue, and our employees will become part of a group with a strong future," concludes Stefano Paolini.

Transaction terms and organizational changes

During its Capital Markets Day in November 2025, Hexpol announced an increased focus on thermoplastics as a key growth platform. The company refers to its website for more information about the event: https://investors.hexpol.com/en/capital-markets-day.

The acquisition price is EUR 143.5 million on a cash- and debt-free basis. The transaction is financed through a combination of bank facilities and cash. Closing is expected in the third quarter of 2026.

In connection with the acquisition of Vipa Group, Hexpol points to a greater critical mass in its offering to the wire and cable industry. Therefore, the subsidiaries Hexpol Izmir and Hexpol Vilafranca will, as of July 1, become part of the Thermoplastic Compounding business area instead of, as currently, the Rubber Compounding business area.
