Krones receives EcoVadis Platinum rating

Krones has received a Platinum medal, the highest recognition level in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment. The company achieved 91 out of 100 points in 2026, compared with 80 points in the previous year, and improved its result for the sixth consecutive year. After receiving three consecutive Gold medals, Krones entered the Platinum category for the first time. The result places the company among the top one percent of more than 150,000 businesses assessed worldwide. The largest improvement was recorded in the Environment category, where Krones scored 96 out of 100 points, up from 85 points in the previous assessment. According to the company, this means it is now using almost all of the rating potential available in this category.

Group-wide structures and standards

According to Martina Birk, Head of Sustainability at Krones, the improved result is primarily attributable to the systematic integration of environmental, social and governance aspects throughout the Group. Over recent years, Krones has expanded its sustainability organization and the related management tools. The company now operates an international network of sustainability experts, with responsibilities defined across all regions.

"Sustainability at Krones is no longer managed exclusively from our corporate headquarters," explains Martina Birk. "Our teams at subsidiaries and international locations are driving implementation locally, sharing experiences and jointly refining successful approaches. This close collaboration helps us establish high standards worldwide and continuously improve our ESG performance."

Birk also points to standardized data collection across the Group as a factor supporting transparency and internal management.

"Transparency is becoming an increasingly important competitive factor for companies," says Birk. "By collecting our sustainability metrics in a standardized manner across the entire Group, not only do we gain a highly accurate picture of our ESG performance, but so do our customers throughout the value chain. This not only supports our internal management processes but also strengthens the trust of our stakeholders."

The Krones EcoVadis scorecard is currently being actively reviewed by 154 companies and incorporated into their procurement and investment decisions.

Maintaining the position as the next challenge

Krones describes its first Platinum rating as an intermediate milestone rather than the conclusion of its sustainability work. EcoVadis medals are awarded through a competitive rating system. According to the company, continued development of industrial ESG programs will make retaining a place among the top one percent increasingly difficult.

"Advancing to the Platinum category is the result of a long-term transformation process that we have pursued with great consistency," says Uta Anders, CFO of Krones AG and, since June 2026, also responsible for Sustainability. "What particularly pleases me is that this achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of many colleagues around the world. At the same time, we do not regard this award as an endpoint, but rather as a milestone on our journey. Sustainability is a continuous process of development. Our ambition is to maintain this position over the long term and to actively help shape our industry's transformation together with our customers and partners."
