Plastics Recycling Show to launch in Brazil in 2027

Brazil will host an edition of the Plastics Recycling Show for the first time on 17 and 18 May 2027. PRS Brazil will take place at the Renaissance São Paulo Hotel and bring together representatives from across the plastics value chain to discuss challenges, opportunities and development pathways for plastics recycling and the circular economy in Brazil and Latin America.

The initiative is a partnership between Crain Communications, a US-based media company with specialist publications serving the plastics industry, and the Brazilian Plastics Industry Association, ABIPLAST. Its launch expands the international presence of the PRS brand, which also organises events in Amsterdam, Mumbai, Shanghai and Dubai.

The first Brazilian edition will provide a platform for industry debate, market information and the presentation of practical solutions intended to advance plastics recycling. Participants are expected to include decision makers, recyclers, converters, brand owners, machinery and technology suppliers, policymakers and sustainability experts.

Regulatory and market context

The event is being launched as companies across the value chain respond to Decree No. 12,688/2025, which regulates reverse logistics and the use of recycled content in plastic packaging in Brazil. Within this context, PRS Brazil is intended to provide a forum for discussing market developments, technologies, public policy and practical approaches to increasing plastics recovery and reuse.

The conference programme will incorporate perspectives from across the plastics value chain. It will focus on knowledge exchange and discussion of advances in recycling technologies, as well as market and regulatory factors affecting the sector’s development.

Plans for expansion from 2028

Plastics Recycling Show Brazil is organised by Crain Communications and ABIPLAST in partnership with Plastics Recyclers Europe. FIMIC, an Italian company specialising in equipment and technologies for mechanical plastics recycling, has been confirmed as Gold Sponsor of the launch event.

PRS Brazil 2027 will be the first stage in the event’s development. From 2028, it is planned to become an annual exhibition and conference, providing a larger platform for companies, technology suppliers and industry organisations to present solutions and engage directly with the Brazilian and wider Latin American plastics recycling markets.
