Syensqo is investing in a new compounding line for high-performance aromatic polymers at its Panoli site in India, expanding its ability to serve customers in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets. The new line is planned to be operational by Q1 2028 and will double Syensqo’s current compounding capacity at Panoli. According to the company, it will be the first asset in a modular compounding hub designed to provide flexibility across its aromatic polymers portfolio. The investment is intended to strengthen Syensqo’s supply capabilities in India for local and global automotive manufacturers and suppliers, while also addressing opportunities in other industries. It also aligns with the broader localization of manufacturing and supply chains encouraged by the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

Flexible compounding for aromatic polymers

The line will be capable of compounding a broad range of high-performance materials, including Ryton polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA) and Ixef polyarylamide (PARA). This range is expected to allow Syensqo to adapt production as customer and market requirements evolve.

Syensqo’s aromatic polymers are used in demanding automotive applications where high-temperature resistance, chemical resistance, mechanical performance and lightweighting are critical. The new capacity is intended to bring compounding closer to customers in India and the wider region.

"India is an important growth market for high-performance polymers, particularly as the automotive industry continues to localize and adopt more advanced material solutions," said Tom Wood, VP Product and Asset Manager at Syensqo. "By bringing compounding capacity closer to our customers, we can respond more quickly and efficiently to their evolving needs while offering greater flexibility across our aromatics portfolio."

Expansion of Indian manufacturing presence

The investment builds on Syensqo’s established manufacturing and Research & Innovation presence in India. The company said the project reinforces its commitment to supporting market and customer growth across Asia Pacific.
