MAAG wins Fakuma award for rigid PVC gear pump
MAAG received first place in the Extrusion category of the inaugural Fakuma Innovation Award for its extrex⁶ EC, a gear pump designed for the continuous conveyance of rigid PVC.
MAAG Group took first place in the Extrusion category of the inaugural Fakuma Innovation Award, presented during the 30th edition of the plastics processing trade fair. The award recognised the company's new extrex⁶ EC, described as the world's first gear pump specifically designed for the continuous conveyance of rigid PVC. According to MAAG, the pump's design addresses process stability, thermal material stress and extruder efficiency in PVC extrusion.
The extrex⁶ EC features a gap-free construction without dead zones. The design is intended to eliminate dead spaces and prevent extended material residence times, thereby limiting thermal decomposition and supporting a stable, clean process. Uniform, pressure-stable conveying also reduces the load on the extruder. Depending on the application, this can enable a significant increase in throughput or energy savings of up to 50%.
Optimised temperature control can reduce the process temperature by up to 10°C, lowering the thermal stress applied to the material. MAAG states that, in some cases, this may remove the need for expensive stabilisers and provide an economic benefit for rigid PVC processors.
Process efficiency and reliability
"Winning the first Fakuma Innovation Award confirms our role as a technology leader," said Jonathan Hummer, Head of Product Management Pumps & Filtration. "With the extrex⁶ EC, we offer a reliable and economically attractive solution that redefines efficiency and process reliability in PVC processing."
MAAG is presenting the award-winning extrex⁶ EC live at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen, in Hall A6, Stand 6202, until 16 October 2026.
