Messe Düsseldorf and PMMAI to co-organize Plastfocus

2026-09-24

Messe Düsseldorf India and PMMAI have entered a long-term partnership to develop Plastfocus. From 2027, the event will join the K Alliance and move to Bengaluru.

Messe Düsseldorf and PMMAI to co-organize Plastfocus

Messe Düsseldorf India and the Plastics Machinery Manufacturers Association of India (PMMAI) have entered into a long-term strategic partnership for the further development of Plastfocus, one of India’s key trade fairs for the plastics industry. Messe Düsseldorf and PMMAI now co-own the event, establishing a basis for a long-term commitment to the Indian plastics market.

From 2027, Plastfocus will be jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf India and PMMAI. The event will become part of the K Alliance, Messe Düsseldorf’s global plastics and rubber portfolio, which comprises its own trade fairs and strategic alliances in key growth markets. The addition of Plastfocus expands the network’s presence in India and strengthens its position as an international platform for the plastics and rubber industry.

For Messe Düsseldorf, the partnership is a strategic investment in the Indian market. According to the organizer, it could also create long-term opportunities in related industries, including packaging and printing.

"India is one of the most important future markets for the plastics industry. By integrating PLASTFOCUS into the K Alliance, we will be creating a strong platform for our customers in a highly dynamic environment and are further expanding K’s global reach," says Marius Berlemann, Chief Operating Officer at Messe Düsseldorf.

Indian plastics market shows further growth potential

India’s plastics industry is characterized by increasing domestic demand and substantial long-term growth potential. Market studies cited in the announcement estimate its value at more than USD 44 billion in 2025, with the figure expected to exceed USD 63 billion by 2031.

Plastics consumption in India has risen considerably in recent decades and currently amounts to approximately 22 million tonnes. At the same time, per capita consumption remains comparatively low, indicating scope for further market growth. Investment in industrial infrastructure, manufacturing capacity, export-oriented production and recycling solutions continues to support the sector’s development.

"PLASTFOCUS has established itself as an important platform for India’s plastics industry. Our partnership with Messe Düsseldorf India takes it to the next level – creating a stronger international platform for Indian manufacturers to connect with global markets, technologies and business opportunities. Together, we want PLASTFOCUS to reflect the scale, capabilities and growing global ambitions of India’s plastic processing and allied machinery industry," says Tushar Parikh, President of PMMAI and Managing Director of Neoplast Engineering Private Limited.

Event to move to Bengaluru in 2027

The agreement with PMMAI marks the first time that Messe Düsseldorf India will co-organize a plastics exhibition in the Indian market. Beginning with the 2027 edition, Plastfocus will move from Noida/Delhi to Bengaluru, one of India’s leading industrial and technology hubs in the south of the country.

The next edition is scheduled for 23–26 June 2027 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). The trade fair is subsequently planned to take place every two years.
