Modern, sustainable drive for injection moulding
The plastics processing industry faces the challenge of combining high production efficiency with stringent sustainability requirements. YUDO’s innovative YUDrive Eco system is a compact, advanced servo drive solution for controlling valve pins in injection moulds, offering an alternative to conventional hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Simple integration and operation
One of the key advantages of the YUDrive Eco system is its exceptional ease of implementation. The solution does not require additional, complex external controllers. It uses the same standard control signals (24 V DC) commonly used to operate conventional solenoid valves in injection moulding machines.
Operating speeds can be configured and adjusted intuitively using DIP switches located on the side-mounted control module or by selecting factory-programmed profiles. Available programs include fast opening, slow opening and combined speed profiles, such as two-stage opening. This allows the operating cycle to be precisely matched to the requirements of the moulded part.
Substantial energy savings and environmental benefits
With electricity costs rising and increasing emphasis on environmental protection, YUDrive Eco offers high energy efficiency. According to the technical data, conventional hydraulic cylinders used in this type of application consume almost ten times more energy than the YUDrive Eco system, while pneumatic systems consume approximately twice as much electricity. By using a high-resolution motor (409,600 steps per revolution) and a 24/48 V DC power supply, the system can significantly reduce electricity costs while supporting more sustainable production.
Process cleanliness and improved product quality
Conventional hydraulic systems always involve a risk of oil leaks, ruptured flexible hoses or leaking fittings, which adversely affects workplace cleanliness. YUDrive Eco eliminates these issues entirely by providing a fully dry and clean system.
Furthermore, the reduced need for bulky connections compared with conventional cylinder supply lines improves the structural rigidity of the mould itself. In terms of finished-product quality, precise control of the opening profile, for example in sequential injection moulding processes, effectively reduces visible weld lines and flow marks. This is particularly important in the automotive industry when producing large components such as bumpers.
The solution is also intended for Class A parts requiring a higher-quality surface finish. Adjusting the speed, opening time and valve pin stroke can help address issues such as flow marks and polymer chain intermixing, while reducing shear rates. This is especially important for parts that require painting.
Summary
YUDrive Eco demonstrates that advanced automation can be combined with ease of operation and environmental benefits. Its high precision, elimination of oil-leak risks, energy savings and straightforward integration with injection moulding machines make it a reliable option for plastics processors seeking to optimise their production processes.
