KraussMaffei expands LRXplus automation range

KraussMaffei is expanding its LRXplus series with the new LRXplus Twin, a multiple kinematic system developed for demanding automation processes in injection molding technology. The system is designed for highly complex automation tasks and combines robust mechanical design, intuitive operation and flexible integration options. According to the company, the LRXplus Twin is intended for use regardless of machine, manufacturer or process complexity. The linear robot is available in Twin X and Twin Z variants and covers load capacities from 35 to 100 kg. Mechanically coupled axes enable precise parallel movements and flying handovers, also referred to as "handshake", which can reduce cycle times and support the synchronization of production processes.

"With the LRXplus Twin, we are bringing an automation solution to the market that noticeably eases the daily production challenges of our customers. The combination of multiple kinematics, high robustness, and intuitive operation makes it possible to implement complex processes easy, fast, and reliable. The Twin demonstrates what KraussMaffei stands for: solutions that can be used flexibly and deliver real added value for our customers. It simply always fits." - Markus Bauer, Managing Director KraussMaffei Technologies

Robust axes for technical availability

The axes of the LRXplus Twin have been designed with rigidity, crash resistance and long service life in mind. KraussMaffei states that the optimized material combination of aluminum and steel prevents deformation even at maximum speed. If a collision occurs, damage is intended to remain superficial, with no production downtime and minimal repair effort.

This design is intended to increase technical availability and reduce service costs. For operators, the expected benefits include greater safety, reduced downtime and improved cost-effectiveness.

Control system and maintenance access

The LRXplus Twin is equipped with the smartControl MC7 system. It enables centralized programming and control of up to four robots with six axes each, which corresponds to a total of 24 axes in one system.

A shared coordinate system, an HTML5 program editor and tactile hard keys are intended to support intuitive operation and fast, safe setup. The ergonomic handheld unit with multi-touch display is designed to make it easier to teach complex motion sequences.

The control cabinet has been repositioned on the floor to improve access during maintenance. It also includes a powerful ventilation system, allowing robot operation to continue without interruption even at high ambient temperatures.

Integration with injection molding machines

The LRXplus Twin can be operated both as an integrated solution and as a standalone system. This allows compatibility with current KraussMaffei machines, older control generations and systems from other manufacturers.

In combination with flexible gripper solutions, modular peripherals and turnkey automation cells, the system can be configured according to specific customer requirements. The intended application range includes pick-and-place operations, assembly, sorting and complex process linking.
