Milacron to debut third-generation E-Series at Fakuma
Milacron will present its third-generation all-electric E-Series in Europe at Fakuma 2026. The E180 and E110 injection molding machines will run packaging and medical applications, respectively.
Milacron will present the third generation of its all-electric E-Series in Europe for the first time at Fakuma 2026. The company will demonstrate two injection molding machines in live production: the E180 manufacturing a polypropylene packaging container and the E110 producing polypropylene pipette tips for medical applications. The new machine generation has been developed to increase productivity and energy efficiency while providing greater production flexibility. Its design combines a compact footprint, increased mold flexibility, higher injection speeds and low maintenance requirements. According to Milacron, the platform is intended to maintain consistent part quality while reducing operating costs. The machines feature regenerative servo drives, a redesigned clamping unit, modular injection units and the Mosaic Xi control system for connected production environments.
Regenerative drives and redesigned clamping unit
The new generation of regenerative servo drives supports high acceleration rates and peak currents. When the electric axes decelerate, energy is fed back into the power grid, reducing energy consumption. The electric drive technology also enables fast and precise motion sequences.
Milacron has redesigned the clamping unit with increased tie-bar spacing to accommodate molds with high cavity counts and simplify the integration of auxiliary equipment. Its robust construction is intended to support short cycle times and a long service life. Automatic clamping force control promotes process stability, while lower grease consumption contributes to a cleaner molding process.
The injection unit uses a modular concept that allows multiple screw configurations on a single machine platform. Higher injection speeds broaden the range of potential applications. The nozzle contact force is in line with the injection force, enabling a consistent and repeatable connection to the mold at high injection pressures and speeds.
Mosaic Xi supports process monitoring
The E-Series is equipped with the Mosaic Xi control system, a machine control platform designed for connected production environments. Its functions include the part assistant, clamping force optimization, adaptive central lubrication, smart charging for intelligent material dosing and the PSSV system for maintaining consistent part weight.
A 21.5-inch multi-touch display allows operators to monitor more than 30 process parameters across the previous 5,000 cycles. Production and energy data can be analyzed over extended periods. The energy consumption of each individual axis can also be assessed for each cycle directly from the operator panel.
E180 runs a packaging application
During Fakuma, the all-electric E180, with a clamping force of 180 tons, will produce a round-oval polypropylene container. The application uses a two-cavity hot-runner mold, and each molded part weighs 23 g.
The E180 on display is fitted with an IU 25_50 injection unit and a 45 mm screw. Its maximum injection speed is 350 mm/s. Tie-bar spacing of 570 × 570 mm allows the machine to accommodate large molds with high cavity counts. The application is intended to demonstrate process dynamics, repeatable part quality and energy-efficient all-electric drive technology.
E110 produces pipette tips
The second live demonstration covers a medical application. The E110 will manufacture 200 µl polypropylene pipette tips in a 64-cavity hot-runner mold. The machine provides 110 tons of clamping force and is equipped with an IU 18_40 injection unit and a 35 mm screw. Its maximum injection speed is 350 mm/s.
The production of small molded parts in a high-cavity mold will demonstrate the precision, repeatability and process stability of the new E-Series. Reduced grease consumption and all-electric machine technology also support the clean production environment required for medical applications.
European premiere at Fakuma
Milacron states that the third-generation E-Series combines productivity and repeatable quality with energy efficiency and lower operating costs. The machine concept also includes a compact footprint, mold flexibility, low maintenance requirements and advanced process controls.
"With the third generation of the E-Series, we have consistently advanced our all-electric machine technology. Our focus is on productivity, repeatable quality, energy efficiency, and low operating costs. We look forward to presenting the E180 and E110 live to the European plastics industry for the first time and welcoming visitors to our booth at Fakuma," said Alexander Boos, Managing Director, Milacron Europe.
The E180 and E110 will be exhibited in Hall A3, Booth 3208.
