Mold-Masters DeXa receives Fakuma Innovation Award
The DeXa side gate solution from Mold-Masters received the Fakuma Innovation Award 2026 in the injection moulding category. The technology provides individual tip heat control for high-cavity and medical applications.
Mold-Masters has announced that its new DeXa side gate solution received the inaugural Fakuma Innovation Award 2026 in the injection moulding category. Developed to address the challenges associated with high-cavity side gating, the system uses precision process control to optimise part quality. It is intended for demanding medical and high-cavitation applications.
"Understanding application-specific limitations is key to innovation, and we are honoured to receive the Fakuma Innovation Award for our DeXa side gate nozzle," said Thomas Bechtel, Senior Director, Global R&D. "By developing solutions that improve moulding performance and reduce risk, we help customers achieve better outcomes and create greater value."
DeXa provides individual precision tip heat control. This enables process optimisation and balance adjustments for each cavity, with the aim of improving part quality without affecting neighbouring cavities.
Individual temperature control for each cavity
According to Mold-Masters, conventional side gate systems use group temperature control, with one temperature zone serving a group of up to eight parts. As a result, changing the processing temperature to improve the quality of one part also affects the other parts in the group.
The individual control available with DeXa allows settings to be adjusted for a specific cavity. The solution is designed to provide greater control over processing conditions in high-cavity moulds, where differences between cavities can influence the quality of moulded parts.
The system also incorporates the Speed-Lok centre bolt design. Mold-Masters states that this feature simplifies maintenance and reduces downtime.
Award presented at Fakuma
The Fakuma Innovation Award was presented by trade fair organiser Schall Messen and trade publication K-Zeitung during a ceremony at the Fakuma International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing. The new award programme recognises technological advances in the plastics industry.
