TechnoCompound to add 4,800 tonnes of LGF capacity

TechnoCompound is expanding production capacity for long-glass-fibre-reinforced (LGF) compounds at its Bad Sobernheim site in response to growing demand for high-performance materials. The investment will increase annual capacity by 4,800 tonnes, with the new production line scheduled to be operational by the second quarter of 2027. According to the company, the expansion will not require significant changes to production processes or the technical concept of the existing facilities.

The project is also intended to strengthen TechnoCompound's portfolio of compounds containing post-consumer recycled material. The company already supplies LGF grades with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content ranging from 25 to 60%. These materials meet or exceed the future requirements of the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELV-R) and are intended for structural components used in vehicle interiors.

Capacity expansion focused on efficiency

Sales Manager Rifat Erden said: "By further expanding our production capacity in the LGF sector, we are making a targeted investment in TechnoCompound's future. The expansion, which will add a further 4,800 tonnes per year, is our response to the steadily growing demand for high-performance, long-glass-fibre-reinforced compounds."

The company states that efficiency and sustainability are key considerations in the project. The new line is to operate in an energy-optimised manner and comply with current environmental and technological standards.
