Coperion K-Tron has introduced K-Vision-III, the latest generation of its feeder line control and process visualization system. The platform has been redesigned with new hardware and a modern software architecture intended to improve processing speed, responsiveness and connectivity. It enables centralized monitoring and control of up to 24 individual KCM feeder control modules operating on one process line. Through a larger, high-resolution touchscreen, operators can access real-time monitoring, trend analysis, configuration and process adjustment functions. The system is intended to give operators a consolidated view of feeder performance and provide access to production data from a single interface. Although the user interface and functionality have been updated, the platform retains the navigation structure and workflows used in previous K-Vision generations. According to the company, this is intended to reduce training requirements for existing users. K-Vision-III is available in multiple languages for use in manufacturing operations across different regions.

Recipe management and process control

The platform introduces recipe management functions for process setup and operation. Users can create and manage material configurations and process recipes, including recipe proportioning, staged startup and shutdown sequences, and ingredient priority management.

Automated calculations are used to support precise and predictable process control while reducing the number of manual tasks performed by operators. These functions combine configuration, sequencing and ingredient management within the same feeder line control environment.

Integration with plant control systems

K-Vision-III supports Ethernet-based industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and Profinet. It can operate as a single communication gateway between the plant's distributed control system, DCS, or programmable logic controller, PLC, and the feeders on a process line.

This architecture is designed to reduce the complexity of connecting multiple feeders to plant control systems and to improve access to process data. The system also includes backup and restore functionality for feeder controller parameters. This allows individual controllers to be reconfigured or replaced more quickly, supporting production continuity and limiting downtime.

"With the K-Vision-III, we continue the tradition of innovation and continuous improvement in feeder controls that has long been a hallmark of Coperion K-Tron," said Jay Daniel, Head of R&D for Feeders and Feeder Systems within Coperion's Performance Materials Division. "This latest generation provides customers with greater visibility into their processes, easier access to critical production data, and enhanced system integration capabilities. Ultimately, the K-Vision-III helps customers operate more efficiently, make better-informed decisions, and maximize uptime."

The platform is intended for process industries that require precise material handling and feeding. It combines process visualization, feeder line management and connectivity with higher-level plant control systems in a single platform.
