Coveris to show recyclable pet food packs at PATS UK

Coveris will present its latest recyclable and PFAS-free pet food packaging solutions at PATS UK 2026, scheduled for 27–29 September at NEC Birmingham. The company will exhibit at stand A35. Its presentation comes as the packaging sector prepares for EU limits on PFAS in food-contact packaging, applicable from 12 August 2026, and responds to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, PPWR, which is accelerating the transition towards packaging designed for recycling and greater circularity where the required collection infrastructure is available.

For UK pet food producers and brands selling products in Europe, these regulatory requirements are already affecting material selection, product development and supply chains. Coveris plans to show packaging developed to combine product protection, operational performance and improved recyclability. The company already supplies PFAS-free premade pet food bags and is extending PFAS-free solutions across its portfolio. According to Coveris, this approach is intended to help customers respond to changing requirements while retaining the performance required in demanding pet food applications.

Paper-based and monomaterial structures

One of the solutions presented will be MonoFlexFibre Max, a paper-based structure designed for recycling in the existing paper stream. It combines a natural paper appearance and feel with a range of barrier properties, reliable sealing and printability using rotogravure, flexographic or digital processes. The structure can be adapted to different packaging dimensions and weights for food-contact applications.

Coveris will also show MonoFlexBE with a metallic inner layer. The recycle-ready, high-barrier monomaterial is designed to improve product protection while providing a metallic finish intended to support shelf visibility and brand differentiation.

"The regulations are now in force, and our customers are no longer asking what they need to do in the future – they are asking how they can make the switch today," says Vincent Larson, Coveris Pet Food Key Account Manager (UK). "We’re working closely with international pet food brands to move to recyclable monomaterial and PFAS-free packaging without compromising the things that matter most: product protection, shelf-life, packing-line efficiency and shelf appeal. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and remove the technical and operational hurdles that can stand in the way."

Visitors to stand A35 will be able to discuss the company's recycle-ready packaging portfolio and its application in pet food packaging.
