Engel will use six Expert Corners at Fakuma 2026 to present technologies for injection moulding applications. The dedicated stations on the company's stand will combine exhibits, presentations and videos, allowing visitors to examine components, operate the new viper 6 robot and discuss specific applications with Engel specialists. The topics cover melt assessment, temperature-control circuit monitoring, machine operation, automation, specialist processes and in-mould coating. Running machines elsewhere on the stand will show how the solutions perform under production conditions. Four machines and an autonomous injection moulding cell featuring inject AI will demonstrate applications in food packaging, automotive connectors, liquid silicone rubber processing and consumer products. Engel will exhibit in Hall A5 at Stand 5203.

Measuring melt homogeneity

Engel's melt homogeneity measurement system uses ultrasound in the nozzle area to detect unmelted particles and assess melt homogeneity during every cycle. Moldsonics sensors are fully integrated into the Engel machine control system, making the resulting quality data available for continuous process monitoring.

According to Engel, the system enables processors to use the capacity of the plasticising unit without compromising its service life. It will be demonstrated on an e-motion 380. The Expert Corner will also feature application-specific material packages ranging from Basic to High Performance, as well as further-developed screws, non-return valves and shut-off nozzles. Engel combines these developments in packages for the packaging industry, covering development, manufacturing and service.

Ultrasonic monitoring of temperature-control circuits

Engel is adding ultrasonic flow measurement to its temperature-control technology. The eco-flomo U manifold for monitoring and the e-flomo U version for control measure flow rates from 0.4 to 40 l/min in each circuit and are suitable for temperatures up to 160 °C. As the ultrasonic sensors do not contact the medium, the system is designed to remain robust when cooling water contains particles.

The manifolds are integrated into iQ flow control, retaining machine connectivity and offering potential energy savings of up to 85%, depending on the application. The e-flomo plus will operate on the stand, while the e-flomo U will be installed on the autonomous injection moulding cell. Engel provides a lifetime warranty for the measuring sections, which are the core components of the ultrasonic flow meters.

Control support and access management

The control unit Expert Corner will focus on structuring workflows and making process knowledge available on the production floor. Guided procedures support mould changes and are intended to prevent set-up errors, while digital assistance provides information directly through the control unit to facilitate staff training. Smart Access restricts machine access to authorised personnel.

Engel will also present the new Solution Guide, which accepts image input. The system is designed to help users identify machine problems and to preserve specialists' knowledge for use by other employees.

New viper 6 robot

The automation station will introduce the viper 6, the entry-level model in the new viper generation. Redesigned axis profiles and selectable strokes increase the working envelope, particularly for longer demoulding and vertical movements. The compact robot meets the requirements of ISO 10218:2025, and its introduction completes the transition of the viper range to the new generation.

Visitors will be able to operate the robot at the Expert Corner. A second unit will run on the electric Wintec e-win 1800 producing automotive connectors.

Processes for lightweight and multi-component parts

Under the heading "Technologies for Every Challenge", Engel will present parts manufactured using specialist processes. The victory electric 1565/220 will produce a precision liquid silicone rubber seal on the stand. A thermoplastic composite rotor-blade component will illustrate tape-sandwich injection moulding for lightweight construction.

Further exhibits will cover multi-component applications using sandwich injection moulding and foaming methods including MuCell and chemical foaming. These processes can reduce the weight and warpage of plastic parts.

Coating within the mould

A separate station will cover the clearmelt process, in which injection moulding and polyurethane coating are combined in one operation. No subsequent painting is required. The resulting surface is scratch- and UV-resistant and, depending on the formulation, can have self-healing properties.

Engel consolidates its materials, application and machine expertise for polyurethane processing in injection moulding at its clearmelt competence centre in Austria.

Production demonstrations on the stand

The all-electric Engel e-motion 380 will produce yoghurt cups with in-mould labelling. The machine achieves a dry cycle time as low as 1.2 seconds and is intended to combine high availability with low energy consumption, increasing output and reducing unit costs.

For high-volume automotive production, the electric Wintec e-win 1800 will manufacture connectors in a 128-cavity mould, with the viper 6 removing the sprue. The integrated cell is designed to provide process stability and high output with an investment adapted to the application.

The Engel victory electric 1565/220 will produce a high-precision liquid silicone rubber seal for an inverter component. The flash-free part leaves the machine without requiring finishing, which can reduce scrap.

A Wintec t-win 6500 will manufacture coat hangers for Leifheit. The demonstration is based on a readily available, near-standard two-platen machine intended to enable a rapid production start without costly special equipment.

At the autonomous injection moulding cell, visitors will be able to use inject AI and the Engel Virtual Assistant EVA in dialogue. EVA answers machine-related questions and, following user confirmation, can transfer changes to the control system.

Engel will also participate in Career Friday on 16 October 2026. Guided tours for young visitors are being organised by PlasticsEurope Deutschland.
