Mocom to present new compounds at Fakuma 2026
Mocom will present recycled carbon fibre-reinforced polyamide compounds and a new TPV for direct bonding with PA12 at Fakuma 2026. The portfolio targets lightweight, structural and two-component applications.
Mocom, a global compounder of thermoplastic polymers, will present new material solutions for demanding applications at Fakuma 2026. At booth 4207 in hall B4, the company will focus on two new compounds from the Wic product family, a development in the Alfater XL range, and materials for lighting and lightweight applications, including recyclate-based compounds.
The developments address technical requirements ranging from robust lightweight applications and low-temperature use to structural components. "We develop and modify compounds specifically to meet individual customer requirements and support our customers throughout the process, from material selection and development to the implementation of the desired material solution," said Söhnke Müller, Vice President Global Product Management & Product Innovation at Mocom.
Wic PA 12 and Wic PARA for lightweight structures
The new Wic compounds are produced using recycled carbon fibre. According to the company, they combine mechanical performance with low density and reduced component weight. Both materials contain 30% recycled carbon fibre and are intended for demanding lightweight applications requiring high specific strength.
Wic PA 12 30 was developed for robust lightweight applications. In addition to low weight, the compound provides high impact resistance, including at low temperatures. Its polyamide 12 matrix has very low moisture absorption, helping to maintain mechanical properties and dimensional stability under changing climatic conditions.
According to Mocom, using recycled carbon fibre can reduce the material's global warming potential by up to 65% compared with a virgin carbon fibre solution. Potential applications include ski bindings, e-bike battery housings, saddle shells and clipless pedals.
Wic PARA 30 is based on a semi-aromatic polyamide designed to provide high stiffness and strength together with high surface quality. Its reduced water absorption allows the mechanical properties to be retained almost completely in a conditioned state. The material is therefore intended for visible, load-bearing structural parts that require both mechanical performance and an appropriate surface finish, such as display carriers.
With Wic PARA, Mocom is expanding its polyarylamide portfolio with electrically conductive grades. The Altech PARA GF range continues to comprise glass fibre-reinforced PARA compounds for applications requiring maximum mechanical performance without electrical conductivity. The range also permits customised colour formulations.
TPV for direct bonding with PA12
Under the Alfater XL brand, Mocom is introducing a new PA-adhesive material for technical two-component applications. The thermoplastic vulcanisate was developed specifically for use with polyamide 12. It can be processed directly onto the thermoplastic substrate, enabling two-component production without additional bonding agents.
This capability extends the options for hard-soft combinations. The material is intended for demanding applications in the automotive, electrical and electronics, and sports and leisure sectors.
Custom compounds for technical applications
Alongside the new products, Mocom will show compounds for a broad range of technical applications. The presentation will also cover the company's approach to developing materials for application-specific requirements.
"We see ourselves as a development partner to our customers, combining our comprehensive product expertise with a deep understanding of the specific requirements of each application," said Stefan Fuhlendorf, Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development at Mocom. "Our global presence also enables us to work closely with customers in their local markets. With production and development capabilities in Europe, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region, we can jointly develop tailored solutions while ensuring reliable global supply."
