Messe Düsseldorf is expanding its activities in the MENA food and packaging market with Morocco Food World, its first dedicated trade fair in the region. Scheduled for autumn 2027, the event is being organised in partnership with the Fédération Nationale de l’Agroalimentaire (FENAGRI), the national association of the Moroccan food industry. It will focus on the food sector while strengthening the interpack alliance’s presence in North Africa. As food production expands and modernises, manufacturers require high-performance processing systems, safe and efficient production methods and current packaging solutions. By combining food, processing and packaging, Morocco Food World will extend the interpack alliance’s international portfolio and provide its customers with access to business opportunities in Morocco.

Morocco is the next stage of Messe Düsseldorf’s involvement in the MENA region. The company has been present in Egypt since 2019 with a processing and packaging event. Food Africa and interpack Middle East Africa in Cairo now form a trade fair duo combining food production with the associated processing and packaging technologies.

Morocco adds another strategic location to this network. The country is situated close to Europe, is closely integrated with European markets and provides access to West African markets. According to Messe Düsseldorf, these factors give Morocco the potential to develop further as an international hub for the food, processing and packaging sectors.

Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack at Messe Düsseldorf, said: "We are delighted to be working with our partners to establish a new trade fair – Morocco Food World – in a market where so much is happening right now." Referring to Morocco’s food industry, investment in modern production facilities and role as a bridge between Europe and Africa, he added: "We want to bring people, businesses and markets together and open up new opportunities for our clients in this exciting region."

Food industry growth drives technology demand

Morocco has developed into a significant economic and industrial centre in North Africa. Economic growth of approximately 4 to 4.5 per cent is expected in both 2026 and 2027. Investment in infrastructure and industry, close economic ties with Europe and access to West African markets increase the country’s importance as a business location.

Developments in the food industry are particularly relevant to suppliers of processing and packaging solutions. Morocco has a diverse agricultural and food sector and exports products including fruit and vegetables, fish and seafood, and processed foods. Its domestic market is also growing.

Rising requirements for quality, workmanship, product safety and international marketing are creating a need to modernise production. This is generating demand for efficient processing technology, automation and quality assurance, as well as packaging solutions, packaging materials and packaging supplies.

Access to Moroccan food manufacturers

FENAGRI represents the Moroccan food industry and has close links with the country’s trade associations and companies. Through this partnership, Morocco Food World is intended to bring together food manufacturers and processors, retailers and international buyers with suppliers of products, technologies and services.

The event will provide exhibitors from the interpack network with direct access to a user industry that is investing in and developing its production structures. By adding a location at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, the interpack alliance aims to establish further links for the international processing and packaging sector.
