Vitamizu, a Polish beverage producer known for products based on yerba mate and matcha, among others, is expanding its Mizu brand with three drinks based on green and white tea, enriched with plant ingredients and vitamins. The ready-to-drink tea beverages, available in the Rossmann chain, combine new flavour profiles and additional ingredients in the 500 ml Tetra Prisma Aseptic Edge package, designed for consumption during the day and on the go.

The new Mizu drinks are based on green or white tea, combined with plant ingredients that are less typical for classic ice tea drinks. The range includes green tea with lemongrass and hibiscus, green tea with Ginkgo biloba extract, and white tea with jasmine and moringa. Depending on the variant, the drinks are enriched with vitamins C, D and B-group vitamins, as well as zinc.

"The new range develops our current approach to the beverage category, based on combining well-known product bases with less obvious flavours and ingredients. The starting point remains the light, refreshing character of a tea drink, while the plant additives and vitamins make it possible to distinguish individual variants from the classic offerings in this category. An important element of the entire concept was also the new packaging format, which responds to changes in the way beverages are consumed," said Gerard Przybysz, Product Development Director, Vitamizu.

The direction taken by Vitamizu reflects broader changes observed in the functional food and supplements market. A Tetra Pak study indicates the growing importance of multi-ingredient formulations: in addition to protein products, consumers are interested in solutions enriched with vitamins and minerals, among others. At the same time, as the category develops, matching the product and packaging to everyday consumption occasions plays an increasingly important role.

Packaging format designed for on-the-go consumption

For the new Mizu drinks, the choice of packaging was one of the elements in building the entire product proposition. The Tetra Prisma Aseptic Edge 500 ml format used is fitted with the DreamCap 26 Pro screw cap, which allows drinking directly from the package and reclosing it, so the drink can be consumed gradually throughout the day.

The distinctive octagonal shape of the package also provides a large surface for the graphic design and helps the product stand out on the shelf. During the launch of the new beverage range, Tetra Pak supported Vitamizu in preparing the packaging design.

"Launching a new drink on the market also involves packaging, which is one of the essential elements that must be taken into account when building the entire concept. It should match the character of the product and the way it is consumed, while giving the brand the opportunity to present it properly on the shelf," said Marek Broecker, Business Development Manager for Eastern Europe at Tetra Pak. "The 500 ml capacity, the handy format and the possibility of easy closing and opening suit a product that can be reached for at different times of the day. In addition, the distinctive shape of the package provides a large space for working with the graphic design, which today is an integral aspect of brand promotion, and in this respect we provided Vitamizu with appropriate support," added Marek Broecker.

Environmental aspects

Beyond functionality, environmental aspects are also becoming more important to consumers, namely what a given package is made of, what materials were used in its production and whether they can be further processed. Tetra Pak carton packages are made largely from certified renewable raw materials such as cellulose, and used beverage cartons are fully recyclable. Poland has high-capacity infrastructure that enables the recovery of materials from the individual layers of the packages.

The three new Mizu tea drinks are available in Rossmann drugstores.
