Husky expands Shanghai capacity and introduces HyCAP Pro

Husky Technologies hosted the four-day Husky Connect Shanghai Open House for customers and partners from China and the Asia-Pacific region. The event combined the announcement of a major capacity expansion at the company’s Shanghai Manufacturing Centre of Excellence with the global introduction of HyCAP Pro, its next-generation injection moulding system for high-output beverage closure manufacturing. According to Husky, the developments form part of its long-term regional strategy and are intended to strengthen manufacturing capacity, engineering resources, service and technical support in China. The Shanghai site serves both regional and global customers, producing machines and tooling to common quality standards across the company’s international operations.

Expansion of regional manufacturing capabilities

Husky established its presence in China in 2004 by opening the Shanghai Manufacturing Centre of Excellence. The facility now functions as the company’s regional headquarters and as a manufacturing hub supporting customers across Asia-Pacific and other markets.

The company has continued to invest in local infrastructure, manufacturing, engineering, service and technical expertise. The Shanghai facility manufactures machines and tooling, while the current expansion is intended to increase regional capacity, shorten response times and support the development of solutions adapted to changing customer requirements.

HyCAP Pro for high-output closure production

During the open house, Husky introduced the HyCAP Pro system globally. The next-generation platform was developed specifically for high-output beverage closure manufacturing and extends the company’s established HyCAP platform.

HyCAP Pro integrates injection moulding, tooling and system technologies. Husky states that it can provide up to 45% higher productivity than the traditional HyCAP system in comparable applications. Customers attending the event were able to observe live demonstrations of the system.

The platform includes a new closure free-fall technology. This function decouples the free fall of closures from the mould opening and closing movement, reducing time not directly used for processing. According to Husky, the solution enables shorter cycles and higher production output.
