Aliplast, part of Hera Group, has opened R3GID, a rigid-plastics recycling facility in Modena equipped with AMUT recycling technology. The plant is designed to process rigid polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) waste from municipal and industrial sources. At full capacity, its processing capacity is up to 30,000 tonnes per year.

The facility converts this waste into secondary raw materials with a stated purity of more than 99%. According to the project information, the resulting materials have properties comparable to virgin fossil-based polymers. The plant is intended to supply recycled polymers to manufacturing sectors including packaging and automotive.

The project represents a total investment of €48.8 million, including €7.7 million in funding from Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan. AMUT President Piergianni Milani and CEO Mauro Drappo attended the inauguration. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Italy's Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, also took part.

"R3GID is a clear example of how innovation and Made in Italy technology can turn plastic waste into a strategic resource for industry," said Piergianni Milani. "We thank Aliplast and the Hera Group for their trust in our technology and look forward to a long-lasting collaboration in advancing plastics circularity."
