Italian food packaging specialist Piber Group is using Bormod BJ368MO from Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, for the production of a range of injection moulded tubs for yellow fats and margarines. The company uses the same material for ice-cream tubs and lids.

Europe's first plastic bridge is open

Europe's first plastics road bridge is ready for use! The plastics bridge comes without nails and screws. Instead, the bridge's carriageway slab is made of fibreglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) glued onto two steel bearers. The bridge is 27 metres long by five metres wide and weighs 80 tonnes and can be used as any traditional bridge.

The housing of the map-controlled thermostat by Behr Thermot-tronik, of Kornwestheim, Germany, which is installed in BMW`s N43 series four-cylinder petrol motors, is exposed to a combination of very high mechanical, thermal and chemical stresses. BASF biodegradable plastics expansion

BASF SE has announced plans for a significant expansion of its production plant for the biodegradable plastic Ecoflex at the company`s Ludwigshafen site. The move will raise Ecoflex production capacities from the current 14,000 by 60,000 metric tons per year. Production at the expanded plant will commence in the third quarter of 2010.

Potable water certifications for SABIC Hydrostable Noryl Resins speed time to market
