Alpla expands production capacity in Türkiye

Alpla Group has expanded its production capacity in Türkiye by commissioning new plants in İzmir and Adana. The packaging and recycling company invested approximately EUR 30 million in the two sites to increase capacity, reduce supply distances and improve proximity to customers. The facilities complement Alpla's existing Turkish production network and reinforce Türkiye's role within the company's Africa, Middle East & Türkiye region, known as AMET.

Alpla has operated in Türkiye since 1992 and now has plants in Kocaeli, Ankara, Konya, Adana and İzmir. According to the company, Türkiye accounts for around one-third of its capacity and business activities in the AMET region. The two new plants broaden its geographical coverage and expand its ability to supply packaging to customers in key consumer goods markets.

"Türkiye combines industrial strength, a dynamic consumer goods industry and significant future potential. With these new facilities, we are creating the conditions to support our customers even more effectively and continue growing alongside them as a reliable partner," said Philipp Lehner, CEO of Alpla Group.

Production scope at the new plants

The İzmir facility covers approximately 50,000 square metres and is designed as a versatile production platform for PET preforms, closures, and HDPE and PET bottles. The plant mainly supplies customers in the Aegean region and western Türkiye.

The Adana site covers around 20,000 square metres. Its production focuses on PET preforms and HDPE and PP packaging solutions, with markets in the Mediterranean region and south-eastern Türkiye among its main supply areas.

The plants serve customers in the beverage, food and dairy sectors, as well as manufacturers of home care and personal care products. Together, the sites are intended to support shorter lead times, production flexibility and security of supply.

The Adana plant was officially opened on 14 September, followed by the İzmir facility on 15 September. Participants included Alpla Group CEO Philipp Lehner, COO Walter Ritzer and other guests. Austrian Ambassador Gabriele Juen also attended the opening in İzmir.

Regional expansion and resource efficiency

Alpla regards Türkiye as one of its principal production and competence centres in the AMET region. Javier Delgado, Regional Managing Director AMET at Alpla, said the investments would enable the company to serve a wider geographical area and strengthen its position as a system provider.

"Türkiye plays a key role in our regional strategy. We are now able to cover a broader geographical area and further strengthen our position as a system provider. Over the coming years, we intend to continue expanding our activities step by step," Delgado said.

The facilities use modern production technologies and automation solutions. Photovoltaic installations and rainwater harvesting systems are also part of the plants' infrastructure and are intended to support resource-efficient operation.

"The new plants bring us even closer to our customers. At the same time, we are investing in modern technologies and production capacity. In doing so, we are making an important contribution to the long-term development of our business in Türkiye," said Emre Canoğlu, Managing Director of Alpla Türkiye.
