Dreyplas expands additives portfolio for engineering plastics

Dreyplas will present new additives and reinforcing materials for engineering and high-performance plastics at Fakuma 2026. The additions to its portfolio include para-aramid powders, speciality graphite, hexagonal boron nitride and chopped recycled carbon fibres. Depending on the polymer matrix and application requirements, these materials can reduce friction, improve wear resistance and enhance component performance in demanding applications. The recycled carbon fibres are intended to support more resource-efficient material concepts and reduce environmental impact.

The para-aramid powder can be used as a compound component in thermoplastics to improve tribological properties. Its density is approximately 1.44 g/cm³. It also offers high temperature resistance, extremely low thermal conductivity and very high chemical resistance, enabling its use in a range of applications where these characteristics provide specific benefits.

Graphite and hexagonal boron nitride

Dreyplas now distributes friction-reducing graphite grades manufactured by Nippon Graphite Industries. The products are available in flake, spherical and laminate forms. Their particle sizes range from 5 µm to 350 µm, while bulk densities range from 0.08 to 0.53 g/cm³.

The company's additive portfolio has also been expanded with the Japanese Shobn-Uhp series. The material is a high-purity, white, platelet-shaped crystalline powder made of hexagonal boron nitride, h-BN. Depending on the requirements, grades with average particle sizes of 0.7 µm, 8 µm or 11 µm are available.

Hexagonal boron nitride improves the sliding properties of thermoplastics and facilitates mould release. It also combines very good thermal conductivity and high thermal stability with high corrosion resistance and good dielectric properties.

Recycled carbon fibres

Dreyplas will also present a new range of chopped carbon fibres from Nippon Polymer Sangyo. The fibres are based on post-consumer recycled materials sourced from wind turbine rotor blades or pressure vessels.

Like conventional carbon fibre variants, the recycled fibres reduce creep and improve the dimensional stability and mechanical strength of components. They can therefore provide an alternative for resource-efficient material concepts while retaining the performance potential required for engineering plastics.

Distribution and development of high-performance polymers, additives, fillers, cleaning compounds and raw materials for the plastics and chemical industries.
