Feller revises MCS hot runner controller range
Feller Engineering will present its revised MCS hot runner controllers at Fakuma 2026. The range covers 6 to 144 control zones per unit and introduces smaller housings, guided setup, smartphone-based troubleshooting and energy measurement.
Feller Engineering GmbH will present a completely revised generation of its MCS hot runner controllers at Fakuma 2026 in Hall A2, Booth A2-2111. According to the company, the controllers retain the control quality of the previous models while offering more compact housings, greater operating flexibility and shorter setup times. The range comprises four coordinated housing sizes for applications from 6 to 144 control zones, compared with a previous upper limit of 120 zones. For larger applications, several units can be networked to connect up to 480 zones and operated centrally. The portfolio extends from tabletop units to tower configurations, addressing different mold sizes and production requirements. All functions and connection options available in the previous versions have been retained.
Smaller footprint and guided commissioning
All four versions have a smaller footprint than their predecessors. The new tabletop units for up to 24 zones measure 323 x 411 mm, width x depth, and require more than 25% less space. The mini-tower for applications with up to 48 zones uses the same 323 x 411 mm footprint due to its slim housing. The reduced dimensions are intended to provide more free space in the production area, improve access to machines and molds, and simplify integration into existing systems.
After a mold change, a quick-start assistant guides the operator through the wiring test, automatic group assignment, and the configuration of temperature, boost and function settings. The guided process is designed to reduce operating errors and shorten commissioning.
Operation is based on capacitive displays, replacing the resistive displays used in the previous generation. According to Feller Engineering, the new displays can be read from a wider viewing angle and operated more reliably. Depending on the model, users can select an integrated 7-inch display or external operator panels with a 7- or 12-inch diagonal. The external panels include USB and Ethernet ports and can be positioned using interface cables up to 10 m long, including directly on the injection molding machine.
QR code support for troubleshooting
If a fault occurs, the controller display generates a QR code. Scanning it with a smartphone opens a web application that provides image-based, step-by-step instructions for detecting and resolving the fault on site. The function is intended to simplify troubleshooting and reduce production downtime.
A new mains voltage measurement function enables precise calculation and display of heating power and energy consumption. Values are available for individual zones and for the complete controller. The revised MCS generation also retains established functions including wiring checks, continued heating following a sensor break, leakage and short-circuit detection, and comprehensive monitoring.
The controllers support communication via OPC UA and can be operated in 14 languages.
