Husky launches HyCAP Pro for beverage closures

2026-10-15

Husky Technologies has introduced the HyCAP Pro injection molding system for high-volume beverage closure production. The company reports up to 45% higher productivity and up to 15% lower energy consumption in specified comparisons with its conventional HyCAP platform.

Husky launches HyCAP Pro for beverage closures

Husky Technologies has launched HyCAP Pro, a high-output injection molding system developed for beverage closure manufacturing. The system extends the company's established HyCAP platform by integrating injection molding, tooling and system technologies for high-volume production. According to Husky, HyCAP Pro can provide up to 45% higher productivity than a conventional HyCAP system in like-for-like applications and consume up to 15% less energy in equivalent applications. A central design change decouples the free fall of closures from the mold opening and closing movement. This is intended to reduce non-process time, shorten cycles and increase output while maintaining process precision, repeatability and part quality.

"True innovation is not about making existing technology incrementally better, it's about fundamentally changing what's possible," said Dave Morton, Husky's Executive Vice President, Business Development. "HyCAP Pro represents a breakthrough innovation in closure manufacturing. We have reimagined the closure molding process from the ground up, eliminating unnecessary steps, dramatically reducing waste, and introducing a fundamentally different approach to high-volume manufacturing. This is not another generation of conventional technology. It's a new way of thinking about how closures should be made."

Configuration for high-output production

HyCAP Pro combines a 300-ton press, two RS injection units and a 72-cavity closure mold in an integrated production system. The separation of closure free fall from mold motion eliminates the conventional open-and-close sequence from this stage of the cycle, reducing idle time and increasing production efficiency.

The platform is optimized for the latest generation of high-density polyethylene materials. It supports resin throughput of up to 260 kg/h and uses process control intended to maintain consistent melt quality and repeatable closure production.

Process control for lightweight closures

The system was designed for the narrow tolerances and high cavity counts associated with lightweight closures. Its equipment includes two RS injection units, a scan rate of 500 microseconds, optimized hot runner technology, integrated resin feeding and downstream equipment. These components are intended to support repeatable production at high throughput.

By eliminating the clamp stroke, HyCAP Pro reduces energy consumption by up to 15% compared with conventional HyCAP systems in equivalent applications, according to Husky. The company states that the change can lower operating costs while allowing higher production output.

Monitoring and maintenance functions

HyCAP Pro incorporates tooling and system-monitoring functions intended to improve uptime and simplify operation. The available features include Smart Start/Stop, Mold ID, energy monitoring, extended service intervals and Husky Advantage+Elite. Husky says these functions support lower maintenance requirements and reduced unplanned downtime.

The combination of higher output, lower energy use and controlled processing is aimed at the technical and economic requirements of high-volume beverage closure manufacturing.
