More Cutting-Edge Technology Highlights for ASEANPLAS
ASEANPLAS incorporating ASEANRUBBER 2008, Southeast Asia`s leading international trade fair for plastics and rubber, is shaping up to be a hotbed of technological innovations and solutions for plastics processing. Of particular note is the wide range of materials to be introduced at ASEANPLAS.
Asahi Kasei Plastics Singapore (APS), for example, manufactures highly heat-resistant XYRON mPPE resin in Singapore for applications ranging from E&E to automotive and industrial. The company also markets TENAC POM and LEONA PA66 and all of these products will be featured at ASEANPLAS.
Moreover, injection machine supplier Nissei will bring more than just its second-generation hybrid type injection moulding machines equipped with the X-pump system, which combines the merits of both electric and hydraulic machines. The company will also showcase its VOLTIGA carbon nanotube composite materials.
Furthermore, BLS Polymers will bring its range of specialty compounds for a variety of applications to ASEANPLAS, including cross linkable polyethylene compounds for insulation of power cables, SEBS polymer compounds for medical automotive and consumer products, and polypropylene compounds for automobile components, household appliances and industrial appliances.
Additional materials offerings will be showcased by J.R. Courtenay (powders for rotational moulding) and Bayshore Industrial (highly filled concentrates and low filled compounds for resin producer and converter markets as polyolefin-based additives). Colour Image Plastic Compounds is yet another supplier of specialty compounds to make the trip to ASEANPLAS. On show will be colour and engineering thermoplastic compounds incorporating such fillers as glass, carbon and aramid fibers, PTFE and silicone.
Other leading materials suppliers at ASEANPLAS are Dow Chemical, Jungbunzlauer (plasticizers based on citric acid), RTP Company, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, Sasol Olefins & Surfactants (alumina monohydrate), Sumitomo Chemical Asia, The Polyolefin Company, and Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. (ABS resins).
In equipment developments at ASEANPLAS, ShapeGrabber has signed a distribution agreement with exhibitor Optical Gaging (S) Pte. Ltd, (OGS) to market its industrial 3D inspection systems to several countries in Southeast Asia. ShapeGrabber designs, manufactures and markets industrial 3D inspection systems that are ideal for measuring complex shapes such as injection molded plastics and castings that are otherwise too time consuming, costly, or difficult to measure.
In addition to highlights on the main show floor, a must-see for visitors is the ASEAN Plastics Technology Showcase, being held for the second time following on from its successful debut at ASEANPLAS 2005. A new corner added to the showcase is Materials for Medical Applications. The showcase will feature a display of low-pressure plasma for surface modification of plastics from Europlasma NV for cleaning, etching, activation and polymerization applications, as well as an introduction to radio frequency identification (RFID) from SIMTech.
ASEANPLAS will also coincide with the Asian Plastics Forum (APF) on May 27, which will bring representatives from plastics associations throughout Asia together at a high-level summit that will discuss issues of relevance to the plastics processing industry.
Moreover, a two-day conference starting May 27 focusing on Innovations in Injection Moulding Technology and organized by The Chatsworth Group also adds more value to a visit to ASEANPLAS. Confirmed presentations include New Innovative Processing Technologies for Polycarbonate and its Blends from Bayer, MaterialScience, Polymer Micro Moulding Process for MEMS Applications from Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) Materials for Moulded Interconnect Devices from Lanxess, Fundamentals of Decoupled Moulding from RJG, Nano-Moulding Technology - Strong Adhesion of Metal and Plastics by Injection Moulding from TaiseiPlas, and Lexan DMX PC Film for Insert Mould Decoration from SABIC Innovative Plastics. The Chatsworth Group is also organizing a two-day intensive Training Course on Plastics Technology together with partner enys international on 28 and 29 May 2008.
ASEANPLAS 2008 will open its doors from 26 to 28 May 2008 at Singapore Expo. Admission is free and restricted to trade visitors and professionals only. The exhibition hours are from 10.00am to 6.00pm 26 to 28 May and from 10.00am to 5.00pm 29 May 2008.
ASEANPLAS is a project by the ASEAN Federation of Plastic Industries (AFPI) and hosted by the Singapore Plastic Industry Association. It is endorsed by the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau as an Approved International Trade Fair and supported by the European Committee of Machinery Manufacturers for the Plastics and Rubber Industries (EUROMAP), and K Düsseldorf, the world`s leading plastic and rubber trade fair.
