Amcor Introduces the Industry's Lightest 16oz PET Salad Dressing Container

Amcor Rigid Plastics, the world’s leading producer of PET packaging, has made a major advancement in weight reduction with the development of the lightest 16oz PET salad dressing bottle in North America. The 16oz Curve, a stock oblong container, weighs in at just 29.5g, almost 20% lighter than the industry standard (35.3g). It also beats out a competitive 30.4g PET bottle, which until now was the industry’s lightest salad dressing container.

Cooking allowed…at over 120°C (250°F)

From now on food and ready-prepared meal packaging and containers can be made of up to 100% recycled PET (rPET) produced on VACUREMA recycling systems, even if temperatures rise above 120°C (250°F) during the heating process. The world’s largest tire, the MICHELIN XDR 59/80 R 63 will welcome visitors to BAUMA 2010. It will be on display in the atrium between Halls A3 and B3. The 63-inch tire measures more than 4 meters high, weighs 5.3 tonnes and can carry loads of up to 100 tonnes. This record-breaking tire has enabled equipment manufacturers to design and produce the latest generation of giant trucks used today in mines around the world.

Engel’s Exjection technology

Exjection technology supports the production of long sections and rails with integrated fitting, closure, reinforcing and decor elements via a single injection point in a single production cycle. We chose a fully electrical Engel e-motion injection moulding machine for this process as it guarantees the required level of process integration. IB Steiner has now been awarded the 2009 State Prize for consulting/engineering consulting for the development of the Exjection process.
