TechnoCompound will present recently available material developments for electrical and electronic components, including applications in electric mobility, at Fakuma 2026. At stand A4-4217 in hall A4, the European supplier of bespoke thermoplastic compounds will focus on three areas: electromagnetic shielding, electrical insulation and flame retardancy. The company will also show further developments centred on sustainability and the use of recycled materials. These include closed-loop solutions for the plastics cycle in accordance with the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELV-R), as well as packaging solutions designed to comply with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The portfolio covers compounds for automotive, electrical, electronic and packaging applications, with processing options including injection moulding and extrusion.

Electromagnetic shielding

The new AbsorbXX products are electromagnetic shielding plastic compounds intended as a lightweight, readily processable alternative to metals. Primarily based on polyamide 6 and recycled polypropylene, the compounds are reinforced with carbon fibres and filled with carbon black. They are designed to meet shielding requirements for a range of components used in the automotive and electric mobility sectors.

Depending on the grade, the materials can provide electromagnetic compatibility shielding of up to 55 dB at frequencies from 30 MHz to 1.5 GHz and above.

Electrical insulation and tracking resistance

TechnoMid GF 30 2 MH H, product code K052500059, is a newly developed electrically insulating compound for electric mobility applications. Its polyamide matrix contains 75% recycled content. With a comparative tracking index of 600 V, the compound is classified in Group 1 and provides one of the highest tracking resistance levels available among electrically insulating thermoplastics.

Reinforcement with 30% by weight of short glass fibres provides dimensional stability and mechanical properties. Heat stabilisation improves resistance to thermal ageing and permits continuous operating temperatures of up to 150 °C. The PA6-based material also provides resistance to oils, greases and solvents.

Halogen-free flame-retardant PBT

TechnoDur PBT GF 7 1 HFFR V0, product code 502339, is a new polybutylene terephthalate compound containing 7% by weight of short glass fibres and halogen-free flame retardants. It meets the UL94 V-0 flammability classification at a thickness of 0.4 mm.

Due to its low glass-fibre content, the compound has high melt flowability. It is therefore intended for thin-walled injection-moulded parts with long flow paths, where mould filling must be combined with specified flame-retardancy and rigidity requirements.

Despite long flow paths, TechnoDur PBT GF 7 1 HFFR V0 meets the mould-filling requirements for this support structure for automatic sliding doors, as well as the specifications for flame retardancy and rigidity

Further developments for automotive and electronics

TechnoCompound will also present free-flowing PA6 Easy-Flow grades for injection moulding front-end modules, as well as laser-markable, dimensionally stable polypropylene grades with good creep properties. Further developments include sustainable long-glass-fibre-reinforced polypropylene grades for automotive interiors.

The range will additionally include electrically conductive and electrostatically dissipative PS-ESD compounds for extrusion and injection moulding. These materials have been developed to protect sensitive electronic components against electrostatic discharge.
