CLF launches Taiwan’s first 5,000-ton injection machine

Chuan Lih Fa Machinery Works Co., Ltd. (CLF) has officially launched the CLF 5000TPII, Taiwan’s first ultra-large two-platen plastics injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 5,000 tonnes. The machine’s launch coincides with the company’s 60th anniversary and marks the Taiwanese injection moulding machinery industry’s entry into the 5,000-tonne class. According to the manufacturer, the machine is the result of its research and development work and its experience in producing large and ultra-large injection moulding systems.

CLF has operated since 1966, focusing on the design, production and technological development of plastics injection moulding machines. The company’s machines are used to manufacture automotive components, logistics pallets, construction materials, industrial containers and other large plastic products. The manufacturer reports that its equipment has been supplied to more than 70 countries.

Applications and two-platen design

In recent years, CLF has expanded its operations into semiconductor-related manufacturing applications. These include equipment for producing FOUPs (front opening unified pods), which are used to transport and store semiconductor wafers. This field requires high precision, equipment tailored to specific requirements and the integration of large-scale moulding systems.

The CLF 5000TPII has a two-platen design developed to provide a large opening stroke, efficient use of space and stable force distribution. The machine also supports customised side-entry mould solutions. Integration with automation peripherals and production layout planning is intended to enable the construction of complete workcells for injection moulding ultra-large components.

Development of high-clamping-force machinery

According to CLF, the 5000TPII represents not only a further increase in clamping force, but also an example of the Taiwanese sector’s capabilities in manufacturing advanced injection moulding machines. The company states that it will continue developing equipment for ultra-large moulding applications, based on manufacturing in Taiwan, short response times and flexible adaptation of systems to customer requirements.
