Arburg Mexico training project to present mould at Plastimagen
Arburg Mexico, Moyá Mold Makers and the Technological University of Corregidora are working with students on an injection mould. The project is scheduled for presentation at Plastimagen 2026.
Arburg Mexico, Moyá Mold Makers and the Technological University of Corregidora are collaborating on a training project for people interested in plastics processing and mould manufacturing. The initiative combines technical education with work on an industrial mould, supported by Arburg's machine technology and manufacturing experience at Moyá. It is intended to give participants practical engineering and production skills and to develop a route into technical careers in Mexico's manufacturing sector.
The project forms part of the "Moulding the Future Together, Let's Be More" programme. Moyá Mold Makers and the university signed a collaboration agreement in June 2026 to create internship opportunities for students in technical and engineering programmes. Participants have contributed to the development of a mould designed for Arburg Mexico. According to the companies, the work allows them to apply concepts from their studies in an industrial environment rather than only in the classroom.
The group includes five young people from nearby communities who had not completed their formal education and had previously worked outside industry, as well as two Industrial Maintenance Engineering students. Through their involvement in the project, the participants are gaining practical skills. The initiative also aims to encourage interest in technical education in their communities.
"The future competitiveness of our industry depends on our ability to attract, inspire, and prepare new generations", said Julio López, Managing Director of Arburg Mexico. "Through initiatives like this, we are not only developing technical skills but also creating opportunities that can transform lives, strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem in Mexico and create a long-term competiveness in our manufacturing sector".
Trade fair demonstration and further use of the mould
The project is scheduled to be presented at Plastimagen 2026 in Mexico City, from 10 to 12 November 2026. According to the main description of the demonstration, an electric Allrounder 1800 e Trend fitted with a new six-cavity family mould will produce polycarbonate safety glasses at the Arburg stand in hall 830. The supplied photo caption, however, refers to an Allrounder 1000 e Trend; the machine model therefore differs between the two descriptions.
Visitors will also be able to obtain information about Arburg's digital manufacturing solutions, including its Manufacturing Execution System (ALS), the arburgXworld customer portal and the Arburg Remote Service (ARS) platform. After the trade fair, the mould is intended to serve as a demonstration tool for Arburg Mexico and as a case study for future participants in the training programme.
